Thompson Care Home

Hi I'm Miranda,

I am travelling to Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines for 12 weeks in October 2017. I will be volunteering in an older persons care home, to support the home care staff to forge ahead in their project of updating current practices and home care provision for the older person. Thompson care home is a 20 bedded residence solely realiant on voluntary contributions and the goodwill of the local community.

I currently work as a carer for the older persons in their homes and previously worked as a nurse which, allowed me to observe how vulnerable the older persons are hence, lead to my experience of volunteering to create national UK guidelines placing the older person at the centre of their own health and well being.

I will be volunteering with USPG (United Society Partners in the Gospal) a charity with long standing experience in this area and I am really looking forward to this opportunity and hope that I can make a difference.
