A dear friend of mine, Sophie Trevelyan Thomas, died tragically in November 2013. Sophie was a deputy director at Sotheby’s and was an alumna at The Courtauld Institute of Art. By taking part in ‘Triforlife’ triathlon this September, at Woburn Abbey, I hope to raise money to go towards a permanently endowed scholarship at The Courtauld that Sophie’s family, friends and colleagues are looking to start in her name. The Sophie Trevelyan Thomas Scholarship will cover the tuition fees for one MA student each academic year, in perpetuity. This will be awarded each year to a student who is taking an MA in any module from the Medieval or Renaissance period, thereby reflecting Sophie's interests. In order to provide on MA scholarship every year, a total of £125,000 needs to be raised, if £250,000 is raised, up to two scholarships every year could be granted.
