Rooney is our loveable 4 year old Bulldog that has unfortunately developed an eye condition called "Entropion" -
http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/eyes/c_multi_entropion#.Ujn5ET9UY6J and while we have already gone ahead and taken him for the initial surgery to remove some of his eyelids, there is cornea damage done that we were unaware of until our post-op visit on Sept 16, 2013. It broke our hearts to hear the damage is so bad that his eyes may not make it. Since then we have treated him aggresively with the following method:
Anticollagenase and Antiprotease Agents
Serum or Plasma
(Page 8 of document: http://cal.vet.upenn.edu/projects/ophthalmology/ophthalmo_files/Tools/ComplicatedUlcers.pdf )
Doing this highly complicated therapy was not guarenteed to work but we had to try anything possible to save his eyes!
UPDATE: He is actually in surgery today (Sept 24) and will be losing one eye as well as getting his other one worked on to ensure he can see out of it. The past few weeks have been very challenging for us as he has been getting intense therapy at home. Luckily it has paid off as we managed to save one eye but the road has been long and hard and he will still have to lose the other.
This is after we have already paid for a surgery to remove some of his eyelids in hopes that he would not have to lose either eye (which cost $1500). From start to now, it has been an incredible amount of money to pay. If any of you have pets or have ever had one, you will understand how heartbreaking and stressful this can be for both the pet and the owner. Originally the vet bill was $4500 for this second surgery and intensive therapy but due to the kindness of our vet, who has treated Rooney since he was a puppy (and has made over $10,000 in the process), the bill is now $2500. We are hoping to raise $1500 and pay $1000 ourselves.
If any of you are willing to forgo your morning latte and donut (or muffin) or that fast food lunch and really make a HUGE impact on someone you actually know, then please press that donate button!
Any little bit helps (We have shared this within other outlets and if even a third of the recipients give $10, we will definitely meet our target and be able to pay off the vet bill.) Please be in that third of people!
It would mean the world to us and Rooney!
Thanks so much for your time and support
Please share this with your coworkers, neighbours, friends and family.
