The Pirate Club

Hello! We're a group of 9 students from Temasek Polytechnic's Digital Film & Television currently working on out Final Year Project. We wish to raise money for our film, The Pirate Club!

Our film revolves around a group of young geeks who think that devoting themselves to scholarly pursuits has cost them their best years. However, on a whim, they decide to prove themselves by undertaking courageous and dangerous acts on the night before the start of national service.

This is a coming of age film, in the context of Singapore with a tone that is equally light-hearted and comedic but emotional and heart-felt.

This story explores the daunting nature of national service, but not in the way you think. This is not a story about boys going through national service. This is a story about three young boys’ moments before confronting the starting line and the anxiety that comes along with it. Through its narrative, the film aims to illuminate the capacity of young men to embrace vulnerability, both within themselves and in their relationships with friends.
