I decided to start this fundraiser campaign for a family I know, who’re on the brink of homelessness. Their current situation is quite an emergency.

Please let me tell a little bit more about their story. The Molnár family was evicted from their stable home in 2017 as their debt got out of control after the father was fired. Since then they only had temporary homes with the constant threat of having to move out. Last summer the previous landlord kicked them out because he had to sell the house. They were forced to move somewhere but with the current prices of rent, which are unrealistically high in Budapest, finding a house or apartment for 8 people and a dog was almost impossible. But they stumbled upon their current place in Vácegres. They’ve been staying there for about 6 months now and the situation is constantly worsening. When they moved in they had to do numerous renovations on the house so that they get a deduction from the rent. From the beginning they knew the house is in pretty bad condition but after little time it turned out the house is almost uninhabitable.

Currently 7 of them live in this nightmare house with two cats and a dog. The 5 children who still live there have to commute to school everyday which takes about 4 hours altogether, just to go to school and get back home. One of the children is disabled, she’s deaf. The parents have no stable income, even paying the monthly rent is a huge difficulty.

It’s the middle of winter and the heating system functions very poorly it’s around 15 degrees Celsius in the house if they’re lucky.

They just got a notice in the recent days that electricity will be turned off by the end of January if they can’t pay the bills. If they’re left with no electricity it means no heating either. And who knows what would come next...

The house has many more problems, like moldy walls, unsafe electric cables etc. Please see the pictures above.

So this is the reason why I started the fundraiser. If they can’t move out of this dreadful house as soon as possible, first they’ll end up with no electricity and heating and then probably homeless.

I’d love to help them to finally get their very own place where they’ll be safe without the fear of eviction.

Where the money will go:

-possibly a new apartment/house

-savings for the children

-help with mental health

-proper home for the animals

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES IN THE NAME OF THE MOLNÁR FAMILY!
