The Healing Hive needs to go mobile

The Healing hive began in September 2022. At The Hive we offer holistic treatments free of charge to men suffering from mental health in the local and and surrounding communities.

My name is Youcef i am the founder and one of two CEO's that run the Healing Hive. My idea for The Hive came about after working in mental health for 25 years and observing close family and friends personal experiences with mental health and the treatment system.

Over the last couple of years, for my own personal wellbeing I began to learn a whole range of of holistic therapies starting with counselling, then mentoring; to date I have trained and qualified in massage; hot massage; reiki; sound and crystal therapy and hajeema/cupping. I endeavour to continue learning more the therapies to offer for free at The Hive.

Therapies such as counselling and mentoring are supposed to be offered to those who are being treated by the NHS for mental health, but for the vast majority of patients this is not the case due the costs involved.

Through our own research and personal testimonies from clients its clear that holistic therapies have a positive and uplifting effect on those receiving it.

The Hive focusses on men's mental health as this is a severely ignored and neglected demographic when it comes to dealing with mental health; there are many factors, one being the very nature of men and how they open up to others about their issues or not. The powers that be are busy trying to change the patient while we at The Hive believe we should change how we approach men's mental health.

Each week in the UK on average 84 men take their own lives, this is a heart breaking statistic, we at The Hive have made it our mission to try and reach as many men as possible; as we are a non profit community based organisation are time and resources are limited; we would like to acquire a second hand bus and convert it into a mobile treatment centre so we can take The Hive out into the community to reach more and more people.

While we do focus on men's health we would not turn anybody away who is in need; the more people we reach the better the world will become, if we can just prevent one of those 84 men from taking their own life, through what we do at The Hive it will be more than worth it.
