The Gibraltar Project

With the Gibraltar Project, we want to level the playing field for small businesses at one of the worst economic times for them. Small business owners often need help planning and executing their ideas, but must fly by the seats of their pants and learn as they go because getting the help they need is expensive. Unfortunately, many times this leads to the demise of the business and the financial ruin of the business owner. However, every successful business owner needs a solid, functional business plan to ensure funding and profitability.

So what can we do to help? We can bring business plans to life by merging them with the day-to-day operations of the businesses they serve. Here's how we'd accomplish this:

1. Allow business owners to build business plans on our project's website (yes, for free) using a series of simple questions that your average, non-MBA entrepreneur can understand. Based on the location, industry, sales goals and other bits of information, we can automatically generate marketing plans, pricing strategies, break even points, and (pro forma or actual) cash flow statements. We can also use queuing theory to determine how you should staff your business at peak times. Once the business plan is complete, the entrepreneur can take it to any bank or lender and feel confident that their plan is professional and polished.

2. We will also develop a free application for your computer, tablet, or smartphone with the ability to do a number of things businesses need like: point-of-sale, inventory management, bookkeeping, scheduling, and so forth.

3. The website in which the entrepreneur built their business plan will act as the brains of the Gibraltar Project. The measurable items kept track of with the free application will be monitored by the website. If an entrepreneur is not turning a profit, they can see exactly where they have gone wrong, and then fix the problem. If, for example, their wages are too high with respect to their level of sales, or if they are holding too much inventory, the website will tell them how to adjust their operations to increase profitability.

4. We would also like to promote business-to-business marketing by creating a platform for these small companies with certain service needs to have those services bid on by other companies in our network who provide the needed services. For instance, if a restaurant needs a plumber, the plumbing companies in our network can bid for that restaurant's contract. This lowers the cost for these small start-up businesses, giving them the chance to gain exposure and much needed clientele.
