The Bedouin’s Livelihood and Their Animals in Desperate Need of your Help

The Bedouin tribe from the awe-inspiring Petra (one of the wonders of the world) thrived throughout the years in Jordan, living in caves and tents. With the fast-changing modern world, it led them to move out of those areas to civilization, villages. But with limited financial and educational means, most relied on tourism that Petra brought to them. However, with COVID19 pandemic crisis, tourism stopped. Borders are closed, and limited money from the government led to worsening poverty among the Bedouins during this unprecedented and unfortunate times. Everyone helps each other, but it can only be so much. They are truly experiencing famine and poverty. How long is this pandemic going to go on for? They ask. They keep hoping and praying, but how long is this pandemic really going to go on for? The government says they are testing COVID on the Bedouins. Some say not. The government stated that they are going to help them in terms of their livelihood. Well, some say "not enough". My name is Jo Castanares. I am a nurse practitioner, who has volunteered in medical mission trips. I visited the country of Jordan. The people are kind and hospitable, but most of all, although, they are considered outcasts, the Bedouins are always willing to offer their kindness and will give everything they have just to make you feel welcome in their family, i.e. they will give you simple rocks, hiking tours, food - mansaf. These stems from their deep tradition. I know everyone is experiencing hardships, but I find myself giving them my stimulus check because I'm not starving. I still have food on the table. Unfortunately, this is not enough to sustain them. For now, let's help them during this pandemic. I have created this BEDOUIN RELIEF FUND to provide immediate assistance to those in need. Funds raised will go towards medical expenses, lodging, clothing, food and other vital living expenses for those impacted due to sickness and loss of work. If you could help or share.
