The Work in Progress Project

Hi there! :D My name is Rosalie and I'm student at Sherbrooke's University (Quebec, Canada).

As a super eager to learn person, I've always dreamed of going at university. I finished college with the second best final scores of my program (specialized education) and with being known for my creativity and my work in the cultural events of my community. I've worked as a counsellor and daycamp animator for people with mental disabilities. This work changed my life and confirmed that deeply wanted to help people gaining autonomy and confidence in their lives. My project goes toward this. Two years ago, I was searching how to combine my love for art and my love for people. And it came to me by the side of art therapy, a way to guide people through struggle with creativity and playfulness.

The thing is, reaching my goal to get a master degree as an art therapist will cost money. A lot. As the child of a low middle class family, with a disabled mother who could never work and a father who came back to school to become a teacher when he had a family to raise, I have no financial support from my parents. And the governmental financial help programm assumes automatically that parents do have enough money to help students, even if they can't.

Even though I find ways to pay the rent, art supplies that I need are expensive but a necessity to achieve my goal. And I would be profoundly disappointed if this was the only obstacle between my achievement, not just on a professional level, but also on a social level. Because this path is, for me, a great opportunity to give back to the community and help people gaining strengh by channeling their creativity.

So, to sum it up, what I ask you is to help me raise money to:

A) Being able to pay my tuition fees AND my rent;

B) Buying the adequate art supplies I will need to start on the right track;

C) Building an art project that will serve a sociocultural purpose by trying to reach people in need and make them participate in a soothing creative process.

If I succeed to reach you, I hope you will make a move and help me in any way. And if you have any questions, I will be glad to answer it. :)

To conclude, I would just want to thank you and make you know that this is a project I am very passionate about and even if it just started, it already changed my life and I hope it will change other's too.


-> The title ''The Work in Progress Project'' refers to the idea that we all are somekind of construction needing to become more polished, more complete, more fulfilled, even when we think we've reach our full potential. It refers to the idea of the unknown yet, that part of the spirit that hide inside and just need the kick of creativity and willpower to see the light and grow.

Bonjour! :D Mon nom est Rosalie et je suis étudiante à l'Université de Sherbrooke (Québec, Canada).

Ayant soif de connaissances, je l'ai toujours rêvé d'aller à l'université. J'ai reçu mon diplôme collégial avec la deuxième plus haute moyenne générale du programme de technique en éducation spécialisée et avec mentions pour ma créativité et mon implication socioculturel auprès de ma communauté. J'ai travaillé comme un éducatrice et animateur auprès de personnes ayant une déficience intellectuel et ce travail a changé ma vie. C'est là que m'est venu la confirmation que je voulais travailler à aider les gens à regagner confiance et autonomie face à leur vie. Mon projet va en ce sens. Il ya deux ans, je cherchais comment combiner mon amour pour l'art et mon amour pour les gens. Et j'ai découvert l'art-thérapie, une façon de guider les gens à travers les difficulté de façon ludique grâce à la créativité que nous avons tous caché en nous.

La fait est qu, pour être art-thérapeut, cela nécessite d'aller jusqu'à la maîtrise. Bien que c'est un objectif que je me sens capable d'accomplir, cela coûte énormément d'argent. Venant d'une famille de classe moyenne, dont un seul parent est apte à produire des revenus (ma mère est atteinte de sclérose en plaques et ne peut travailler) tout en allant lui-même à l'école afin d'obtenir un diplôme universitaire, je ne reçois aucune aide financière de mes parents. Et le programme de prêts et bourses gouvernemental présume automatiquement que les parents disposent toujours assez d'argent pour aider leurs enfants aux études, même si ils n'y arrivent pas.

Même si je parvient à payer le loyer, les fournitures d'art dont j'aurai besoin au cours de mon cheminement académique demandent des frais supplémentaires que je ne peux me permettre, mais sont une nécessité pour atteindre mon objectif. Et je serait profondément déçue que cela soit l'obstacle majeur entre moi et mes aspirations, non seulement professionnelles, mais aussi sociales. Car dans ce métier, je vois aussi l'opportunité de donner, dans ma communauté, une voix à certaines personnes qui n'en ont pas.

Donc, pour résumer, ce que je vous demande est de m'aider à amasser des fonds pour:

A) Parvenir à payer mes frais de scolarité tout en subvenant à mes besoins essentiels;

B) L'achat de matériel d'art adéquat pour poursuivre mon apprentissage;

C) L'élaboration d'un futur projet artistique à teneur sociale impliquant des personnes en difficulté dans un processus créatif thérapeutique.
