As we all know winter is already here in Johannesburg and we can feel it , BUT the projections are it could be VERY cold and for some- unbearably cold!
While winter can be a time of family around the fireplace or warmth- for others it could be great discomfort and a source of worry- where even the provisions of warm clothes and a blanket are a struggle. Yet, for many of us, we take for granted the roof on top of our head and the luxury of putting the heater on.
This begs from each of us, the question, “What about the homeless man who is just 100m from complex’’. He and his family is not as warm enough as me and is holding a plastic bag with a sign written “Help me” and a cup for coins- and if he is even lucky he will get a few notes. He is helpless, freezing cold and in despair; with not a sight for respite from the bitter cold night.
Some of us may ask, “Why do you not get a job?”- without a guilt or an understanding of their circumstances. But despite the circumstances, it begs of us to consider what we have for granted but also what our brother doesn’t have and how we can help.
So, I want to make a difference in our community but with your help- without judgement or trying to rationalize the comfort that we live in! I urge you to consider how we may make a difference and join me/us is making that difference. This winter, it is not difficult, please join with me in as we find ways to help those who need our help:
I am setting fundraising account to donate the following :
100 blankets = R4902
100 gloves = R3700
100 beanies = R1550
and this will cost R10152 = 765.710USD = 587.080GBP
Ps any other costs incurred e.g. Distribution will be paid for personally
I urge you to dig deep and give generously.
