I was born and raised in Detroit, MI were I was first introduced to the game of tennis at the age of six. Four years later I became interested in playing tennis and my parents would take me to our local public tennis courts (Belle Isle) to play. They saw the natural ability I have to play tennis, signed me up for the tennis program at Eastside Tennis and Fitness Club at the age of twelve to enhance my skills. I participated in their program for a couple years and decided that I wanted to make a career out of playing tennis. My parents started looking for a private coach to get professional lessons to achieve the level of tennis I desired to play. During my high school career I took lessons from a tour pro and soaked up everything he knew about tennis, including the physical and mental aspect. I played junior tennis from ages 12 to 18; I accomplished my highest ranking in USTA junior tennis in the state of Michigan (2005-2006) in the top 20s boys 18 and under. During my junior years I’ve won six trophies with significant (1first place and 5 runner-ups, just to name a few). During my juniors years one of my accomplishments was graduating high school (2006) and moving on to college. Although my focus was on my studies I never lost the love and desire of playing tennis.
In 2006 I continued some training under the tutelage of professional tennis coach (John McClain), this seasonal training helped with conditioning and spiritual guidance. Due to financial challenges I was unable to advance my career as desired.
In 2009 after being dormant, I raised enough monies to enter into my first International Tennis Federation (ITF) satellite tournament. I traveled to Mobile, Alabama for a 7 day tournament. This experience afforded me the opportunity to take a glance at my future in tennis. The exhilaration I felt just being able to step into another level gave me an even stronger desire to pursue my dream with a driven passion.
Sponsorship is vital to my extended existence in the tennis arena. To obtain adequate training and fitness it is a necessary need to have monies available. So often dreams are placed on hold due to financial disparities; my goal and dream for this year and beyond are to accomplish an ATP Point or Wild Card which will catapult me into the Main Draw of major tournaments.
While pursing my dream, I plan to pay it forward through community services locally and at large to the underserve youth in need, allowing others to experience a chance to dream beyond their limitations.
