Team Fire Velo Norton Strong

Team Fire Velo/Norton Strong is raising money and awareness on behalf of the Fire Family Foundation as part of Fire Velo’s participation in the Race Across America (RAAM) in Aug 2018.

The annual Race Across America (RAAM), labeled “The Toughest Race in the World” by Outside Magazine, is a 3,000 mile bicycle race in which participants traverse the United States from California to Maryland. The route touches 14 states and climbs over 100,000 feet and is 50% longer than the Tour de France. Riders ride 24 hours a day with wildly fluctuating temperatures, ranging from 100+ in the desert to freezing in the Rocky Mountains.

Fire Velo has chosen the “Toughest Race” to symbolize the “toughest battle” that cancer patients face 24 hours a day during their fight. Our hope is to race, over the mountains and through the valleys, to the finish line just as a cancer patient does to get the finish line of remission.
