Campaign Story
It has been a longtime goal of mine to live in Japan to teach English, so it was very gratifying to be accepted into the Interac program to do just that. I have been preparing for this for many years, and just recently graduated college with a degree in English teaching and Japanese language. Additionally, in high school, I was accepted into the People to People program which enabled me to travel to many countries, including Japan, which inevitably incited my passion for teaching English to Japanese students. My degree, along with my experience with the People to People program, has prepared me for this opportunity and I am very excited to travel to Japan in March.
With the shortage of English speaking teachers in Japan, our language has not had the opportunity to be of sufficient value to the Japanese culture. Because of this, students and adults alike do not have the advantage of learning the language that is considered to be the language of global business; which not only limits their academia, but also their professional opportunities. This issue is very near and dear to my heart, and it is my dream to help the people of Japan learn our language so that they may excel and prosper. Because the current English curriculum in Japanese schools has not been as successful as was once hoped, my ambition is that with my fellow teachers we are able to bring a fresh approach that will inspire our students to be the best they were meant to be. I hope that with your help, my dream can come true and my skills can be put to good use abroad. Any assistance is sincerely appreciated! Thank you!
