Hi, my names Marc Ogilvie and i'm soon to be commencing my primary education course at the University of Cumbria. Thanks to Plan My Gap Year i have been presented with the amazing opportunity to travel to Rabat Morocco for a week to take part in volunteer projects that aim to teach English to disadvantaged children in the city. Unfortunately education drop out rates in Morocco is one of the highest in the world and this has a knock on effect meaning that literacy rates between 15 to 24 years olds in Morocco are as low as 72% for women and 87% for men.

Morocco has recently seen a decline in government spending on public education, meaning that English teachers are few and far between and many of the economically disadvantaged members of society are reliant on the help of international volunteers in order to learn English.

With this opportunity i wish to not only help educate the children i will meet in Rabat but also better myself as a teacher. Whilst it will be short trip, it is one of a few projects around the world i plan to try involve myself in this year and i plan to use every second to make an impact.

thank you for taking the time to read this and any donations would be massively appreciated. Thank you.
