What is eXXpedition?
eXXpedition Round the World is a pioneering all-female sailing voyage and scientific research mission to circumnavigate the globe via four ocean Gyres and the Arctic.
What is involved?
I will be joining the tenth leg of the voyage from the Cook Islands to Tonga. We will be collecting environmental samples to assess plastic and pollutants. These samples will provide us with an idea of the effects of plastics on ecosystem health, personal health, and the products we consume.
We will also participate in biomonitoring with the UN founded initiative ‘Safe Planet‘ to assess personal exposure to known toxic substances. Through personal exploration of our internal environment(MeSearch), the aim is to understand the levels of toxic exposure in women better.

Why all women?
Women are still underrepresented in STEM careers and sailing, and the chemicals in plastic and our oceans impact our bodies differently to men.
Why am I doing this?
I love the ocean, sailing, and women empowerment. I have also become increasingly concerned about the growing problems plastics are causing to our environment, wildlife, and our bodies. This is an opportunity for me to try and make meaningful change backed by science and data. I am excited to join the eXXpedition team and to set sail to help find solutions for the growing plastic crisis in our oceans.
