Late February, violence across areas like Eastern Ghouta and Afrin have reached excruciating levels. Within a few days, more than 400 people were killed and thousands injured in Eastern Ghouta specifically. The people stuck inside the besieged area have no access to help, and no one knows when or if they’ll be able to escape. IR staff is on the ground, positioning themselves so that they can provide urgent aid as soon as possible to anyone who can escape or as soon as they can get access inside. Islamic Relief’s programming across other regions of the country and for refugees in neighboring areas continues as well, including our winter aid distributions. Items like food, medical aid, water, blankets, mattresses, plastic sheeting, plastic mats, shoes, jackets, hats, sweatshirts, gloves, waterproof coats, and socks are being provided to families in need. We will not let them face this alone.
