As part of my travels to South Africa at the end of this month, I am going to be volunteering on the Surf Outreach Programme in Cape Town.
The Surf Outreach Programme works with children aged between 9 and 15 years old, who come from disadvantaged backgrounds where poverty, abuse and violence is not uncommon. The aim is to provide a positive influence on these children and help build their self-confidence by providing them with an opportunity to spend their free time in a healthy and productive way. On top of this, there is also a big emphasis on Education around the ocean due to its danger but also because of its importance and need for protection in todays world.
Whilst some of the funds raised will be used to cover travel costs, the majority will be donated towards the programme to help it fulfil a wider influence, allowing the ocean to become a place of development and rehabilitation for many and concurrently protecting it.
I would like to thank you for your time and any donations.
