Book for the next Generation of Camera Assistants

The Big Idea: A summary of the learnings of all kinds of camera assistants all over this planet, including their workflows, hacks, bags, and all the good stuff

An archive of knowledge that you can now just find. Scattered all over the internet or on the 3567 movie sets you'll have to work on to get to know all the different ACs.

Imagine possessing a small carry-on filled with experience, a fancy beauty of a book with all the answers to the questions your soon-to-be super 2nd has. Get inspiration without the need for Instagram. Or of course, just a guide for your parents so they can finally understand what the heck you're doing on a movie set.

Sounds good, Mhmm? That's what I thought.

So since you asked.

Yes, I could do that for you.

I would actually love to! See, the thing is, I'm kinda new at 2nd ACing. Or at least, let's say, at the beginning of my career. I've done a couple of movies, eight to be specific. And I prefer assisting focus pullers rather than being one. This makes me the perfect candidate to write a book like this.

I'm still hungry for questions, not blindly following every piece of advice people like to throw around like half-empty water bottles, and I can still very much relate to what the newbies are looking for.

All I hear is a slap in the face for the next generation. I'm kidding!

Am I though? No, for real. I've been thinking about a book like this for quite some time now. And I would love to make and share guidelines for educational purposes in this field. It sounds kind of boring, but it's only boring if you bring out a printed manual of literally everything.

This book, of course, will not be a boring manual. In fact, the topics will be about what and how to work productively, smart, and act like a pleasant person in the *nerdiest department on set.

It's for the intern who doesn't know how to talk into a walkie-talkie, the focus puller who wants to know how others organize their AKS box, and mainly the 2nd who wants to be the best supporter a camera department could wish for.

I will assemble all of this juice of gold by talking and connecting to you guys, more experienced assistants. My plan is to finish a first draft in October of this year.

I am really thankful and appreciate any kind of support! But also, money. Time and money are what it needs to create a book :-D
