Campaign Story
Debbie Hedenskog is the mother of four beautiful boys: Jade, 15; Dian,14; Quin, 7; and Anro, 2. They live in Strand, South Africa, surrounded by mountains, the beach and nature.
Debbie and her husband Jason have bravely fought for Debbie's health, undergoing brain surgery in 2016 to remove a tumor. Unfortunately, after another MRI they saw a part of the tumor remained and radiation would be needed. For six weeks, twenty minutes a day, Debbie underwent radiation treatment. She experienced seizures on a daily basis, which medication helped but did not control.
Through all of this, she was blessed with an absolute miracle baby, baby Anro! At 43 years of age.
Recently, following a significant decline in her health, medical reports revealed the growth of two more tumors, this time cancerous, effecting her speech and mobility.
Debbie is a dedicated entrepreneur, but her income has dramatically decreased during this time due to her being unable to work.
Dearly loved Debbie is currently in the 24/7 care of Helderberg Hospice where nurses and doctor are watching over her with love and attention. Her four boys and husband as well as family and friends are ever hopeful and praying for Debs recovery and return home.
The desperate need at this time is for Debs treatments and either aftercare at home or if the Lord wants her near Him for the events that follow.
Our fund raising need is R150 000.00 which should see us through for 6 months of care and recovery or all the costs of celebrating her memory and spirit.
If you wish to donate or graciously contribute towards this fund we appreciate it.
A bit more about Debbie:
Debbie studied dancing and enjoys going to the theater, dancing, or any kind of musical. She loves performing arts; Ballet, tap, contemporary, jazz, drama and singing.
Her biggest inspiration is her mom. She confirms that because of her, she has her Never Give Up/Never Quit mindset. She is her best friend, and continues to say, “It’s a privilege to have my mom as my mom.” They are both go-getters and never ever give up.
If she could travel anywhere, she would LOVE to visit Salt Lake City, Utah, Sweden, and the Scotland Highlands! To this date she has never left South Africa.
An interesting and fun fact about her: she will do things out of the blue that no one expects her to do, or that not everybody would do. One time she was in a shop, and saw an employee putting things on a shelf. He was very focused on his job, but Debbie out of the blue came up behind him and shouted: “AAAHHH!” scaring the daylights out of him! She doesn’t care of what people might think of her, she says, “You can’t do cartwheels in the morgue, so do them while you still can."
In her own words, “I’ve learned it’s all about choices, you choose to be happy, you choose to be successful. It’s all a choice, it’s all up to you. Take one moment at a time, because this moment might not come again, so I am not planning for the future, I am planning for now. To be the best “now” I can be because tomorrow you don’t know what will happen."
