Life is especially tough in Uganda right now. Lock down is in progress due to Corona Virus, and families that work to eat are at huge risk of starvation. Government assistance is very targeted, and most families and children get no support. CESA, a charity that specialises in working with women and girls, and with very vulnerable communities has identified 481 families at need of immediate food and soap to survive these tough times. They have the support of Local Government and police to distribute food in two areas, Kamwokya Slum in Kampala and a village in Wakiso district. This crowdfunder will support 50 of the most vulnerable households (300-400 people) to survive lock-down by providing them with maize, beans and soap. It won't be enough to eat well or have 3 meals a day, but it will be enough to avoid starvation. Currently those families and children that live hand to mouth that rely on work to eat each day, are trying to break the lockdown in order to avoid starvation, resulting in battles with the police. This funding will enable them to eat, and stay home. All funds will be provided to CESA who have been working with vulnerable families in Uganda since 2004, and are a nationally and locally registered and well respected organisation.
