Support TAHADDI Lebanon

Tahaddi (“challenge” in Arabic) is a Lebanese non-governmental organization, which offers holistic support to families facing extreme economic hardship through education, health and psychosocial services.

Tahaddi predominantly works in the informal settlement of Hay el Gharbeh in southern Beirut. Tahaddi programs prioritize vulnerable Lebanese families, including members of the Dom ethnic minority. Tahaddi also works with displaced people, victims of conflict and discrimination, migrants and other stateless populations, irrespective of nationality, religion or social background.

In addition to essential services, Tahaddi’s centers advocate on behalf of the community, many of whom are deprived of basic rights. Tahaddi has a longstanding history of advocating for the Dom community, a Lebanese ethnic minority group who are relatives of the Roma of Europe. The Dom are victim to discrimination and social exclusion, including in access to education, healthcare and employment opportunities. Some of them also do not have formal citizenship papers, their legal status perpetuating a cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Tahaddi’s three centers - an education center, a health center, and a psychosocial center - are based in the heart of Hay El Gharbeh, an informal settlement in southern Beirut. We believe in community development and work side by side in solidarity with the families of the area.

Tahaddi’s uninterrupted presence in Hay el Gharbeh for over 20 years has enabled it to build strong relationships of trust with the community. Tahaddi’s centers are open to all and are safe havens for families of the area.

Your donations will help us provide sustainable solutions to one of Lebanon’s most vulnerable communities, helping in building a community of hope and support. You will be directly contributing to Tahaddi’s core activities and projects.

Tahaddi's Education Center continues to give classes to over 550 students of different nationalities. The center aims as well to offer its students field trips and fun activities.

Tahaddi's Psychosocial Support (PSS) Center is a specialized social service center where over 1000 families receive emotional and physical support.

Tahaddi's Sewing Program seeks to empower local women and teach them practical skills. This program has been expanded into an income-generating sewing workshop, where 25 women in total work daily.

Your donations will also be used to support our medical financial aid fund to ensure patients have access to the healthcare they need. Tahaddi's Health center currently provides services to over 2000 patients.
