As of January 2011, I have been declared homeless by the state of Vermont. I left my house due to the fact that my dad was an alcoholic and I needed to leave the house so that I could better myself in the world. I also didn't feel safe and needed to finish High School hitchhiking from a remote location. Since then, I have been atending University of New Haven for the past 3 years. This is my last year in college and I have made it this far by barely making phone bills, car insurance, and school payments. I have worked many jobs to pay for everything while others around me do not realize the luxury of parents providing for them even if its just a simple roof over their heads or a laundry done for them on the weekends. All three of my credit cards are maxed out because I had to use them on a flight to Europe where I had a job opportunity as a tour guide. In return I had free room & board the whole summer so I saved a lot of money in the long run, because I don't know how I would have survived in the summer with nowhere else to go. In the past I have gained scholarships for traveling to France & Germany when I played the violin in the Vermont Youth Orchestra (I played for 14 years). I also play lacrosse and used to ski race in high school so I am a very active student looking to go far in life. If I had more money and support I'd have so many opportunities because I want to take advantage of everything that is offered to me throughout my career. This is my last year in college and I am living on campus because I have no money to rent an apartment. I owe $5132.24 for this semester and have no way to pay it. I have already maxed out all my loans, scholarships, and grants as well and the school won't help me anymore. If I cannot pay this amount by November then I am not allowed back for the Spring 2015 semester, which will be my last semester at the school. I am 22, majoring in National Security and want this bachelors degree so I can continue my dream to protect my country from terrorism and future threats. Any donation to support my higher education will be greatly appreciate, and I cannot thank you enough.
