Sumari’s Recovery Fund

Sumari, my 23 year old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the beginning of February 2017 after suffering from terrible headaches for more than 6 months prior to the diagnosis and after numerous doctors consultations and even visitis to the ER.

Eventually Sumari underwent a 6 hour surgery on 7 February 2017, that was partially successful, although the mass could not be removed due to excessive bleeding, the pressure on the brain was relieved. Sumari spend a total of 5 days in ICU and 4 days in High care at Groenkloof Hospital.

A follow up surgery is now scheduled to take place on 29 May 2017 to remove the tumor.

Sumari is a brave young lady, who started working shortly after her father passed away and joined a limited medical insurance offered by her employer. Unfortunately this medical aid only covers half of what the first operation and hospitalization costs amounts to.

I lost my husband to cancer nearly four years ago. Lourens was a beloved friend to many in our school, church and the community and is dearly missed by us all.

Sumari need financial assistance to be able to cover these costs as I, as a widow and only bread winner, am not in a financial position to settle her medical accounts.

Any donation will help to alleviate the enormous worry Sumari has, not only for the upcoming operation but also for the medical debt.
