This fundraiser will allow me to join a study abroad program that sends students to London. This course incorporates Psy 415 and lasts for 28 days in the summer semester of 2014.
My name is Sarah and I'm from California. I am a twenty-two year old pre-med student (I'll become an OBGYN). Like most kids, my childhood wasn't perfect; I was made fun of, and my parents were substance abusers. Sadly, I lost my father to the bottle in 2009 and my mother struggles with addiction to this day. Because of this, I've become terrified of public interaction-but I refuse to accept this end game.
For years, I've been doing everything I can to overcome the addiction filled home that I was born into. From attending college to aiding others whose lives revolve around substance abuse, my adult life has become dedicated to making not only my world, but the whole world, a happier (sober) place.
By donating, you will be allowing me to further my education by gaining a better understanding of people from around the globe (many of whom will be my patients one day). You will also be aiding me in overcoming my fears and becoming an asset to society. With your help, I can be well on my way to my goal of studying Psychology in London.
If I do reach my goal and make it to London, I will create a blog (or vlog?) that will detail my time spent there. Remember, every little but really does help! Feel free to shoot me any questions or concerns you have.
Thank you for considering!
