Study Abroad: Cambodia

My name is Sarah Bienstock. I am a 22 year old Anthropology Major with a subfield of Archaeology. I am trying to go on a study abroad trip to Cambodia. This trip will give me a chance to expand my knowledge of different cultures and actually give me the first hand experience I need to understand and further my major. The money will fund my plane ticket, room and board, and miscellaneous needs (to be announced closer to the date). I need to raise the funds by the beginning of November 2016. On this trip I will not only gain moments that will help me further my studies, but I will gain meaningful memories. We will be going to a school to interact with children. We will get to know the culture and realize the differences between their culture and ours. However, this trip won't always be a leisure trip. We will be visiting the site of the killing fields and learn more about the hardships that they have gone through. If I get to go on this trip, I would be so thankful. I hope I get to experience the culture shock and the other life-changing moments that come with it. I hope to come out of this trip with a better understanding of Cambodia (one that you cannot learn from reading books), new friends and memories to last a lifetime, and the opportunities to further my studies and career.
