525 CUP is a Hungarian Summer Streetball Festival in the suburbs of Budapest. A local Basketball player who grew up on this court, wanted to create a community here and bring people together for the love of the game and to share the American streetball culture. Adam started organizing streetball festivals in 2008 with the local mayor's help when he was just 18 years old. At that time he just made it to the USA and played NCAA Basketball in Pennsylvania. The festival has been going ever since and Adam received a community award for it in 2020. This event was always free! He organizes the whole day by himself and he also creates the aftermovie.
Our next step is to refurbish the court and change the ground for the players. The court was built with bricks 17 years ago and it is getting old and dangerous on some parts. Our plan is to put a so called rekortan or tartan named rubber ground on the court so everyone can enjoy jumping on it. It doesn't mess with the players joints and nothing will hurt after playing on it for long hours. You can't say the same when you do the same on concrete.
If we can manage to change the court, then I will also buy new tents, furniture, basketballs for the youth and also a new sound system. If we have all these, then I will manage a streeball summer league which means that there will be an event every weekend during the summertime. I went to the USA multiple times to learn about the heart and soul of the real streetball culture and my mission is to bring people together in that district.
We just need help for the court renovation and this where you jump in!
This festival has been going on for 13 years. Let's make it bigger so we can teach and inspire the youth during these events!
Thank you for sponsoring the 525 Community!
