HK$11,195raised of $20,000.00 goal
We need your help for our longtime friend Thomas (Norbert) Brunner. He has fallen on the worst of times since January 2020. I am looking for people who can open their hearts and offer even the smallest amount of financial help.
Our longtime friend Thomas, originally from Germany, spent many years working in the Food & Beverage industry in Hong Kong. Then in 2019, and at 63 years old Tom had an opportunity to move to Cambodia to invest in a local farming business where he thought & expected to fund his retirement. Knowing quite a lot about business & having been based in South East Asia for some time, Tom found a small group of investors & had raised enough capital to buy a decent sized farm & the starting livestock (pigs).
The business was going well & the herd of pigs was growing nicely until one day in August 2019 when the H1N1 Swine Flu virus quickly swept the country & wiped out his entire herd overnight in one foul swoop including all the neighboring farms too!
Needless to say, all the investors pull out, the farm had to be transferred over to the investors to cover the losses & Thomas was forced out of work.
Not to be deterred by the catastrophic setback, Tom picked himself up, dusted himself off & took the last bit of his savings, & going back to the industry that he knew best (Food & Beverage / Entertainment) he bought into a small hotel resort property in Cambodia hoping for his luck to improve.
In January of 2020 Cambodia was added to the growing list of counties heavily affected by the Covid-19 virus and Tom was forced by government regulations & lack of tourism business to close the resort. Again, due to financial obligations the land, buildings & resort had to be dissolved & Thomas was once again put out of work & left with nothing.
This time though with no more funds or savings Tom found himself backed into a corner he could not get out of!
Now we arrive at November 2020 & Tom has been forced into true poverty! Having not been able to find work all year, Tom is now living in a broken-down abandoned hut (shack) that he had found in the jungles of central Cambodia, Totally Penniless! With No Food, No Home, No Job or prospect of work, Thomas now finds himself completely stuck & in desperate need of charity!
For the past 10 months he has been collecting empty cans by the side of the dirt track road to sell for US$1.00 per bag, or digging rain drainage ditches in the local village (20 kilometers away) for 10 hours sometimes in the pouring rain just for a messily US$2.00 per day just so that he can survive.
Tom has a wife & children living in the Philippines that he Cannot See, Cannot Visit, Can No Longer Support or Help & he has now come to the bottom of the barrel of life.
PLEASE, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our prayers now are that we can raise enough funds through this campaign to get Thomas back on his feet, feed him, house him in the short term & then hopefully get him out of Cambodia to find a job & a better life either in back in Hong Kong or in the Philippines with his wife & daughters.
EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS! No matter how small a donation you can afford to make, I know it will be Very Greatly Appreciated.
I know that Thomas will be eternally grateful to all of you for the generous donations that we receive from people in Hong Kong & around the world. It will be because of donors like you that we hope to provide Thomas with a much-needed amount of stability in his life and for his daily needs to survive. We look forward to being able to offer Tom a better future in the months ahead & the ability to reunite him with his family in the coming year.
Many thanks for your kind generosity & support in advance. Please [SUPPORT] & [SHARE] this campaign with those that you know so that we can get Tom back on his feet quickly.
