When we moved into our apartment three years ago there was a stray cat that would flee into the storm drain any time he saw people. He wasn't feral, but he was very wary of humans. Because of his prefered hiding place we unofficially named him Stormy Cat. As time went on he became less and less prone to running when we would walk by, eventually venturing up to our porch to sleep on our outdoor chairs. When it was actually cold here in Austin a couple years ago we made him an insulated cat shelter on our porch, and we started leaving food and water out for him. This went far toward furthering his trust in us.

Fast forward to now. Stormy Cat will come up to us and meow till we pet him, he loves to spend time on our porch, he hops up on top of his shelter so we can give him scritches, and he will follow us for part of our evening walk. He also likes to pop inside for snuggles on the couch, sometimes for hours.

A couple of days ago we saw that he was limping pretty badly on one of his front legs, but we couldn't really see what was causing the limp. He finally let us get a better look, and we fear that he's actually broken the leg. Being the animal lovers that we are we can't just let him suffer with this injury, so we've made the big decision to add Stormy Cat to our family. This is where we need your help. We've been calling around to different veterinary offices trying to get pricing on getting him help for his leg, and the ballpark quotes we've been getting are far beyond what we can afford on our own, so we're reaching out to you to help with the costs of getting him back to good health, and letting him stay with us.

Please, if you could donate even a little to help get him through this painful time and on the road to recovery our whole family would be eternally grateful. Understandably the sooner we reach our goal, the sooner we will be able to get him into the vet and get his injury treated. We have no gifts to offer for donating, but we promise to give regular updates via social media on his progress in healing as well as how he's settling into life with his new family.

Thank you for your help,

The Halls

Update posted by Stacy Hall at 07:02 pm

Stormy went to the vet today; singing the song of his people from the crate in the backseat. After a thorough once over by the vet they've given him a clean bill of health. NO BROKEN LEG!!! She said he has a couple of puncture wounds there, so it's likely a. . . . .
