Sri Lanka volunteering

Hi! My name is Maddie and I'm an 18 year old student from North Somerset. Next year I'm going to be taking a gap year to gain some volunteering experience. I'm hoping to go to university and become a teacher before working with charities as my full-time occupation! In November 2021 I'm lucky enough to be going to Sri Lanka!

I'm going to be working with a wonderful organisation called plan my gap year (www.planmygapyear.com). I'll be working in Sri Lanka for four weeks encouraging a positive lifestyle and supporting the children's educational development. Many children in Sri Lanka are in care homes due to poverty. Furthermore, many of these children have been abandoned by their parents, abused or lost both of their parents entirely. By donating money I will then have the chance to go to Sri Lanka and care for these children. By taking the time to help these children and nurture them, we will be allowing these children to become the best versions of themselves and give them the best chance at succeeding in life.

This is such an amazing experience and I'm so excited! I'm currently trying to raise £1500 which will cover the cost of accommodation, food and flights! I'm hoping to do other fundraising events but due to Covid-19 this has limited my opportunities, hence the reason I have set up a fundraising page.
