Sri Lanka- Jess’s Orphanage Volunteer Work

Hey Guys!

As some of you may already know (due to my immense excitement!), on the 14th of August I will be setting off to Sri Lanka which will be my home for just under a month. Alongside two of my best friends Laura and Sarah, we will be dedicating our time to volunteer work in an orphanage for children ages 5-16. From there on in, our days will be spent teaching the children English, playing games, and ensuring they each have smiles on their little faces, but most importantly acting as a supportive figure for them to rely on and look up to during our stay there.

Our adventure is hosted by the organisation Plan My Gap Year, who like many, ensure orphanages like these can survive. Unfortunately not all the costs involved for both Plan My Gap Year, the orphanage, and us volunteers are affordable, which is why we are reaching out for help wherever available. Therefore as part of our fundraising, we have chosen to take on the challenge of climbing Britains largest munroe: Ben Nevis (eek!). Despite feeling determined, we are still daunted by the thought! So please help us become 3 (potentially bruised and blistered) girls one step closer to reaching our final goal and making a true difference to the lives of the children in the orphanage.

It was not a decission made lightly as we are aware it will not be easy work, but are fully prepared and willing to take on the challenges Sri Lanka brings us. So PLEASE donate generously and be the support that we need! Every little helps and every little makes a difference!
