ARK's Mission Trip to East Africa

Will leave from Washington, D.C. in December 2012 returning to the U.S. in January 2013. First stop will be Tanzania, hosted by one of ARK's educational projects, where we will celebrate Christmas with the children and the community. Planned activities include: building a playground for preschool kids; fixing classrooms & repairing desks; First Aid training and medical screening for students and members of the community; and the official opening of the new ARK-sponsored community clinic and much more. 

Next, we will travel to Kampala, Uganda, where volunteers will provide community medical screening and counseling; help a Grandma supported by ARK; attend a family succession ceremony; meet some of ARK sponsored students and visit the Kabaka's (King's) Palace. We will travel by road to Kenya which will be our last leg of the trip before returning to the U.S. 

In Kenya, volunteers will work in communities selected by ARK local staff/volunteers to help repair several homes for grandmas and conduct community medical screening and consultations. Each night, volunteers will discuss and document their findings which will be compiled, into a short documentary film to be used to raise awareness about ARK Adopt Grandmother program. 

Right now ARK is serving 1400 grandmothers and has anothe 800 on a waiting list.  Your donations and sponsorships go a long way to making a difference in the lives of children that would otherwise not have a chance at life.  To date some of these children have graduated from college and have turned around and helped their younger siblings through school.  ARK is truly leaving a legacy as they invest in the next generation. 

The cost for my trip is USD$5,000 and my goal is to personally raise another $20,000 in support of the clinic.  Any donation you make would be greatly appreciated.  Every dollar makes a difference.
