No matter who you are and where you’re from, I believe sport should be accessible to all, bringing people together from different areas of life. I have seen how sports makes such a difference in youngsters lives, improving confidence, team work, camaraderie, stress relief and an outlet to express themselves.
With this in mind i have always wanted to volunteer and coach sports abroad. I believe third world countries do not receive the same opportunities as we do and for me to use my skills to help support children and teenagers is a dream come true.
This is the reason for me choosing a two week voluntary internship working with a sports school in South Africa, Knysna.
The school provides support opportunities to both boys and girls and works closely with the children from the underprivileged community and townships. This means that as well as working in the sports schools i will be able to help other people within the community and township. The school also organises a number of sports events which brings visiting teams to Knysna to play against local teams. So the pupils will also gain experience of participating in events, and interacting with other pupils.
The internship has a cost of £1095, help raise this money, offer your support and in turn help these children and teenagers build their confidence and sport skills to new levels. I would appreciate any donation you kindly wish to make. There is not much time left as I am leaving on 27th of july 2013, Thank you very much!
