SHMITTAH campaign for SHIVAT HAMINIM FARM inclusive handicap accessible Eco farm in the Galilee

Its Shmittah year here in the Holy Land! Shmittah is a traditional year of rest for the land in israel every seven years. During this year traditionally we dont work the land What better way to partake in this tradition than by donating to a special new farm in Israel?

Shivat Haminim farm is a brand new eco farm starting in northern Israel. This farm with your help will be fully accessible by wheelchairs and created with the goal of being inclusive and welcoming to everyone! In this space every being is welcome with love and respect no matter what there abilities are. The farm will serve the special needs community an employment program with daily healthy activities and all kinds of organic sensory stimulation. It is open for volunteers of all abilities as well. We will have special gardens for wheel chairs, the native trees and species of Israel and a big accessible green house where we will also make natural products out of what we grow.

A note from the founder, Rachelli Rosen

Since the age of 14, I have been working and volunteering for the special needs community.

Passionate about making a better and healthier life for all people, I have years of behavioral sciences and

holistic medicine studies under my belt. For a long time I have been dreaming of creating an

inclusive farm for individuals with special needs especially here in the holy land. This farm

will guide its members to a healthier way of life that everyone deserves to experience. The

therapeutic qualities of working with earth and the various tasks involved, makes farm work an

amazing environment for all kinds of individuals.

In the current system I work for in Israel, it’s apparent that there’s much improvement to be

made with the care of the handicap. Instead of being offered a stimulating and meaningful

therapeutic life, they unfortunately receive the lowest grade of care, and are thrown cocktails

of meds to keep them sedated and quiet. Abuse and violence is horrifyingly common in

mainstream institutions. I have witnessed this myself. Unrecognized for their holy special

neshomot that they are, residents are tossed to the side and dealt with unfairly, because of

their disabilities. Parents have shared with me their difficulty in finding a good program, and

even more so once their child has reached the age of 21. After years of planning, this project is

Bezrat Hashem finally being born. I aim to offer individuals with special needs the opportunity to have a

meaningful occupation, and healthy lifestyle. In the plans we aim to work on our very own piece of farm land

and will build a spectacular greenhouse of joy and healing on it. There will be special wheelchair accessible

gardens, a beautiful therapy corner, an activity area and much more. The next stage will be to open a group

home, in conjunction with the farm, and begin to practice the therapeutic and healthy lifestyle for the

residents. I believe the idea came from good and so will the resources needed to create it. If you can help in

any way, to assist in covering the many expenses of starting this holy organization, it would be

unbelievable and immensely appreciated. Achdut is taking care of our sisters and brothers, especially

those that can’t care for themselves. Help me... help them...and help us... all bring Mashiach!
