Save and build centar for raising young birds

We are an association to help birds and founder of the first sanctuary for seagulls in Croatia. As part of the association, we also opened a Bird feeding and care center, where we keep wild young and weak birds for revitalization until they get stronger and independent, and finally release them into the nature. In addition, we hold ornithological workshops intended for school children, so we go to schools and teach them in an interactive and child-friendly way with the topic about how birds live and how to help them. Thus, children already at an early age gain knowledge that creates awareness about the preservation of nature.

The situation now is difficult, we don't have any funds and we finance everything by ourselves. We have over 220 birds at the moment, and we are moving to a larger location that needs to be built, i.e., renovated. If we do not raise funds for us to work and build a sanctuary at another location, soon there will be nothing left, we will have to give up on many plans and ideas such as: ponds for shorebirds, aviaries for crows and birds of prey, paths for birdwatching tours, a viewpoint with a large bird feeder, possibility of traineeship for biologist students, housing for storks and much more. We lack materials for building an aviary and food for the birds... In the hope that people will understand what is on the verge of extinction, this is the last cry for help...

Mi smo udruga za pomoć pticama i osnivači prvog utočišta za galebove u Hrvatskoj. U sklopu udruge otvorili smo i Centar za othranu i zbrinjavanje ptica, gdje divlje mlade i nejake ptice držimo na revitalizaciji dok ne ojačaju i osamostale se te ih konačno pustimo u prirodu. Osim toga, održavamo ornitološke radionice namijenjene školskoj djeci, tako da idemo u škole i podučavamo ih na interaktivan i djeci pristupačan način s temom kako žive ptice i kako im pomoći. Tako djeca već u ranoj dobi stječu znanja koja stvaraju svijest o očuvanju prirode.

Situacija je sada teška, nemamo sredstava i sve financiramo sami. Trenutno imamo preko 220 ptica, a selimo se na veću lokaciju koju treba izgraditi, odnosno renovirati. Ako ne skupimo sredstva za rad i izgradnju utočišta na nekom drugom mjestu, uskoro neće biti ništa, morat ćemo odustati od mnogih planova i ideja kao što su: ribnjaci za ptice moćvarice, volijere za vrane i ptice grabljivice. , staze za promatranje ptica, vidikovac s velikom hranilicom za ptice, mogućnost prakse za studente biologe, nastamba za rode i još mnogo toga. Nedostaje nam materijala za izgradnju volijere i hrane za ptice... U nadi da će ljudi shvatiti što je na rubu izumiranja, ovo je zadnji vapaj za pomoć...
