South Africa Community Development 2014

Hello Friends and Family,

      I have recently been accepted to participate in a leadership volunteer program overseas with EDventure International.   EDventure International is an educational leadership volunteer organization, which offers its participants leadership and personal development certification, whilst engaging in volunteer projects in the developing world.  I will be traveling with EDventure International as a volunteer working on a humanitarian project in South Africa. On this program, I will spend 3 weeks engaging in leadership development workshops with other volunteers and applying these skills directly to projects in schools and orphanages in South Africa.

     I will be directly involved in creating positive change in these communities. While working in classrooms with groups of children on reading, writing skills, art, and organizing sports and group activities.

      As part of this program we will also engage in local cultural activities within the country. This program will help me to understand and build bridges with another culture that will further develop my global leadership skills.

      These overseas experiences will no doubt push me beyond the comfort zone, and allow me to fully experience learning in a way that I have yet to experience. In addition, this experience will give me the skills I need to enhance my resume and prepare me to be an asset in the professional world.

      The overall cost for the three week program is $3500 (excluding flights).  This includes accommodation, meals, project resources, transportation in-country, and a donation to the community in which we are volunteering.  Even a minimal donation or sponsorship will help me to reach this goal.
