Education is the foundation of a better future. Many are investing in it, but in third world nations, our support is usually for poor areas, we reach out to those who otherwise will not have the very needed education. It is great, a high official can come out of those schools, but the majority of the next generation of leaders in the country come out of good schools in big cities. Why not invest in them with our money, resources, and faith so that we can influence the next generation for good governance?
Allow me to introduce to you, Kinshasa Christian School, a school in the prominent neighborhood of Macampagne in Kinshasa, DRC. This school is going into its 3rd year. Starting with 9 students the first year, 2013, we finished our second year with 35 students and are starting our third year with 64 students. The marketing for the first 2 years has been individual, counting on satisfied parents talking to other parents, and also through a Facebook page which has today over 2700 likes. In the last two years we presented 2 students to the SAT, which both received above average scores, and we took 17 children on a USA tour where we visited Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.
It is a Christian School so we use Christian American curriculum such as Abeka, Apologia, Saxon, Christian Liberty Press and others. We found our roots in the homeschooling community in the USA that is easily seen in our choice of curriculum. We have a strong music program, our students have sang in local concerts here with successful local Christian musicians to an audience of over 3000 people. They have also sang in two churches in our USA tour last year, and are invited back for a benefit concert. We regularly have open programs for Christmas and for Spring. We incorporate many extracurricular activities in our program since very little is done in Kinshasa to reach out to children.
This fundraising campaign is to raise fund to build facilities that will welcome 600 students. We plan to build one of the best in Kinshasa to cause our students to always strive for excellence.
