Campaign Story
Dear Friends, as you know I started an NGO, Foundation for Equal Citizenship registered in India. I am starting the process of registering in the US but will take some time. In the meantime I am raising funds our
Children's Learning Center in a slum in Trilokpuri, Delhi. 25 kids aged 5-15 from poor families- rickshaw pullers, rag pickers, artisans come here. Some of the kids don't go to school and we are preparing them so they can get admission in the new session.
We run 2 hour classes Mon-Sat and would like to start one more session in the evening.
Since the school drop out rate is high, our objective is to create an environment of learning and creativity so that kids get interested in education and become responsible citizens and leaders in their community.
We organize painting competitions, street plays, screen educational films and help them with home work with special focus on English and Maths.
The cost of running the center for a year is $6000. I am trying to raise $3000 from friends and family and invest $3000 of my own money for the remaining.
Your donation will help continue running the center for the next 12 months,
1. Pay salary to two young teachers from the slum area (developing leadership from within the community)
2. Organize a summer camp
3. Conduct literacy campaigns about Right to Education
4. Buy a projector to screen educational digital content.
$50 will pay salary for 1 young teacher for 1 month to keep class of 25 students going
$100 will cover salary for 2 young teachers for 1 month and help us start our 2nd session, targeting another 25 kids
$1200 will cover 2 teacher's salary for 12 months
$1000 will help run campaigns for Right to Education and sessions with parents for a year, targeting more kids. We are currently in one block of Trilokpuri (out of 32 blocks)
