Sivenathi Licensed Home For Children

Sive Nathi was started by Lorraine Joja in 1997 and accommodated 15 children in Khayelitsha giving up space in her own home to do so. She later put up a wooden hut across the road when she ran out of space. In 2001 a generous sponsor organized a bond for a house in Blackheath, later ABSA BANK was kind enough to set up a trust for the home bearing the same name as home and donated the premises to the trust. Sive Nathi moved to the new premises in June 2001.

We provide 24 hour care to the children that profoundly challenged mentally/physically or both and some have to deal with the extra challenge of being HIV positive as well. We also strive to improve their quality of life and provide them a family figure as their parents have either passed away, cannot cope with their disability or simply abandoned them. We now accommodate 40 children. The care includes balanced, healthy meals, keeping them clean, exercising them and medical care. Some of the children are currently going to Astra School that specializes in physically challenged children.

As we are experiencing water crisis in the City of Cape Town. This year we’re hoping to raise as much funds as possible.Our goal is R50 000, and we were hoping that you could help us reach that goal for Borehole & Oxygen Tank as we dealing with children with special needs wouldn’t cope without water.
