Single Mom of 3 - FIGHTING BRAIN TUMOR

Watching a loved one or dear friend suffer through illness is utterly heartbreaking as you often feel helpless in your ability to bring positive change to their life. This is especially true when the illness was unnoticed and/or misdiagnosed for years then a sudden severe illness is detected leaving everyone scrambling to find a way to help.

We are The Oranje Company and we all felt extremely heartbroken when it came to our attention that our dear friend April was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor called Acoustic Neuroma in December 2019. But today, we know how we can help, and it is by raising awareness and funding to help April get the life-saving treatment she needs.

Back in 2009, April started having chronic migraines. She thought it was because she always worked long hours at a computer screen for many years and quickly two or three severe migraines a week, or constant headaches became the norm for her, yet she continued to push through all while raising three children on her own.

As time went on, April hadn’t realized her left ear was going deaf. She experienced ringing sounds in her left ear, dizziness, balance issues, numbness on the left face, nausea, back/body pain, and a stiff neck. She thought she was just too tired due to working for long hours and stress plus the continued chronic migraines were always thought to blame. Then she was diagnosed with Otitis Media with Effusion. At that time, the ENT doctor slightly mentioned something about a possible tumor but did not refer her to a neurologist yet…

One fateful afternoon in December 2019, April was rushed to the hospital with high blood pressure and hyperventilation. At first, the doctor thought it might be a stroke, which it wasn’t, thankfully. However, the bad news came out. The CT scan showed a tumor on the left part of her brain.

Upon knowing her condition, she started to have anxiety build-up, which then led to having extreme panic attacks. Her psychiatrist has confirmed that she was suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Panic Attacks (GAD). April is currently under medication and being guided by her doctor through therapy to overcome her emotional and mental struggles, but to get the further medical treatment she needs…April needs our help.

Acoustic Neuroma is a benign tumor that continues to develop on the balance and auditory nerves from her inner ear to the brain and as of last December, April was also diagnosed with an additional illness called Trigeminal Neuralgia as a result of her growing tumor.

Trigeminal neuralgia is a condition that causes painful sensations similar to an electric shock on one side of the face and despite the constant pain, migraines, panic attacks, balance issues, and more…April continues to work two jobs to support her children who are her entire world, but she cannot afford the Gamma Knife Radioactive surgery needed to prevent further tumor growth, but you can help!

100% of your generous donations will go directly towards the Gamma Knife Radioactive surgery which is an outpatient procedure, no incisions, just radiation directly ‘beamed’ into the tumor. This procedure will prevent tumor growth but can no longer restore her hearing. Yes, her left ear will be deaf for the rest of her life, but this treatment can prevent further damage and help relieve some of the current symptoms she is suffering from.

April is one of the most positive, bubbly, and hardworking people you could ever meet despite what she is going through. Although she can experience instant migraines and panic attacks that result in missing work, still you can see that she is trying her best to support her family and it is now our turn to do our best to support her.

The cost of the entire procedure is PHP580,000 or almost $12,500, which obviously she could not afford so we humbly ask for your help in getting April the treatment she deserves. We thank you all for your generosity and ask that you please share our campaign with your family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors to help spread the word on this amazing woman and get her the help she needs.

Thank you all,

Friends of April
