Campaign Story
We are looking to start our own shrimping business. Local shrimp from locals.
A major portion of all shrimp are coming from other countries who are adding chemicals at shrimp farms.
They are processed in large factories with slave labor.
Shrimp also comes from small villages with no regulations. Are the shrimp you eat safe?
Some of these places are using children. Stop child labor and slave labor.
We would like to start a small self ran shrimping company to get things started. We will be moving to Tampa Florida to do so. It will take expenses to move, get nets, a boat, traps, and all necessary licenses.
We are looking for anyone interested in helping a local cause. We want to catch local and sell local. Maybe even start up a local market or get involved in an already established market place selling local seafood.
We need help to get started. We need to get shrimping back into local hands. Lets get shrimping that helps the local economy.
We don't want to be a major corporation, dragging the bottom of the ocean floor ruining everything in our path.
We want to research and develop new techniques to shrimp without killing off "bycatch" species that are caught in trawling nets and die before they are released back into the waters.
The amount of non-targeted species that are caught in the nets is frightening. Twenty pounds of waste for every one pound caught! WHY?
There has to be a better way. There has to be a solution. We are in the 21st century. We need to look at other methods of catching shrimp.
