Short Film Featuring Girls of Color

Imagine you are trapped inside a glass box. People could see you, and you them, but you couldn't see yourself. You couldn't see your reflection in the glass. Onlookers spectate and whisper about you. You aren't quite sure why, but you make internal assumptions. They eventually walk away leaving space and opportunity for the next set of onlookers. You are screaming to get out but no one helps. In fact, you realize they don't hear you. You eventually give up and stop screaming. It is my mission as an artist to keep screaming and keep writing and directing bodies of work that will liberate stories from the page and the female actor of color from the glass box. I have dedicated myself to writing stories that give voice to the otherwise silenced. I aim to direct actors whose talent gets overlooked because of their physical appearances. With my work as an artist I strive to create more opportunities for women of color in Theatre and Film to share their gifts with the world.

This summer in conjunction with SoulFLY Theatre Society, I will be producing a short film that tells the story of a young girl who is sold into human trafficking. This story has hit communities of color across the country in an alarming way. This film is a necessary body of work for such a time as this. We are hoping to raise money to support filming costs, which includes:
