Shelter Dog’s Only Wish Is To Find A Loving Family Of His Own Before His 4th Birthday

A longtime shelter dog only has one wish for his upcoming birthday – a forever home.

A handsome and energetic black Labrador named Rudy is looking for a forever home. This adorable boy has been patiently waiting at the Allegan County Animal Shelter for 341 days. While he is spoiled by the volunteers and staff, the stress of not having a home is starting to take a toll on him.

Kate Rouster, animal assessor at the shelter, told Fox 17, “He’s mentally not holding up as well as some of the other dogs because he’s been here so long.”

Rudy loves to play fetch with a tennis ball and is looking for an active family. Aside from his love of tennis balls, he adores every person he meets. He actually gets so excited when he meets new people that he actually scares off potential adopters.

Susan Smith, the shelter’s Director, said, “”We’ve been trying to got him a home, he tends to come out with a lot of gang-buster like ‘Hey! I’m Rudy I’m here.'”

“I would make a great companion for you because I am loyal, sweet, fun, silly and a good listener. I am just over 3 years old so I have a lot of love and playtime left to give to my new best friend,” wrote the shelter.

A perfect home for Rudy would be one with children that are over the age of 12. In addition, he needs to be an only pet, but he promises that he will give you more than enough love and entertainment.
