HELP GET SHANA TO CROATIA 2017

THIS IS MY STORY AND MY DREAM

My name is Shana and ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to dance. I am 13 years of age and my grandmother tells me that when I was a little baby, my dad held me in his strong large hand and supporting my back with the other hand he always rocked me to the sound of music, mimicking dance moves and then the family all cheered and laughed and clapped hands for me. I do not remember any of it but it must have had an influence in my love for dancing.

I joined a dance school as an extra mural activity at the age of 11 and has since then been dancing my way to the Dance Star World Masters event that will be taking place in Croatia in May 2017.

Great was my excitement when I was one of 36 girls chosen to join the dance group to compete in Cape Town this year in October 2016. My mom and dad were told beforehand that should I qualify in the Cape Town event, we will have no option but to follow through with the Croatia tour to represent South Africa at the Dance Masters Competition. I am part of a very strong team and we all depend on each other for support when dancing and it would be crucial for our success if one of us were not able to go.

My dad has a small motor repair business but he is struggling to make ends meet as the South African economy is not very strong. Paying my way to Croatia would sink his struggling business concern. I am torn between our obligation towards each other’s survival as a family and also the people that work for him and my dream going to Croatia.

Please find it in your heart to make this once in a lifetime dream come true for me. I am including all the information regarding the tour and am hoping that I will be able to pay my way with your help for the cheaper option which is the Non-Extended tour. My only dream is to be able to represent my dance team and my country at this event. The tour is an extra and I will gladly forfeit that if only I may be able to dance at such a prestigious event.
