We are so excited to share a wonderful opportunity with you. This February 2017, we will be heading to Senegal, West Africa. This will be Emily’s sixth trip to Senegal and Garth’s first.
As many of you know. Senegal is a place that has become very near and dear to my heart over the last five years. I (Emily) have really felt a passion and a love put on my heart by God to love and serve the people in Senegal the way that He would. I am not sure exactly how that journey will pan out, or what that plan looks like right now, but I do know that this trip is a part of that calling, and something that I am so thrilled about. The Lord allowing Garth to come and experience the village, and the people, and this part of my heart is such a blessing and we are both very excited to see how God is going to work in us and through us on this trip.
I (Garth) am really looking forward to seeing how God stretches me and grows me through this trip. Through stepping out of my comfort zone, in faith, I hope to learn and grow in my relationship with Him and the knowledge of missions and the world. I am excited to share my gifts and minister to the children, as well as, the village through music and drumming; something I have heard they love.
In 2005, CFC adopted the village of Baback. There are approximately 1500 people who live in this village. Pastor Antoine, shepherds a growing church and leads church planting efforts in 3 surrounding villages. We have been blessed to assist prayerfully and financially with various projects in the past 8 years. Baback now has 10 public fresh water faucets and 40 private faucets throughout the village, which have dramatically improved the health and quality of life within the village.
Other projects have included the provision of a grain mill, a fence around the village school, the construction of a library, funds to purchase grain for the village in response to a severe food shortage and most recently 1600 mosquito bed nets for three villages to defend against malaria. There is also a child sponsorship program in the village, allowing the children to stay in school.
This year’s trip will focus in a number of areas…
• Teaching and discipleship training with the men and women in the villages.
• Time spent with sponsored children in Baback.
• Relationship building throughout Baback and a few surrounding villages.
• Bless and encourage the Mission Inter Senegal staff.
Our greatest need for this trip is prayer. Prayer updates will be sent out during the trip. Another need we have is to be supported financially. This trip will be $2,100 per person, so we will need to raise $4,200.
We know that this would not be possible without the prayer and support from our community. We feel so blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing community of people. Thank you for your continuous love and support.
