Hello everyone. My name is Tomo Nakamura, and I am starting this fundraiser for my dearest wife Pam. She is 39 years old, and a loving mother to our two beautiful daughters, Karis (4) and Ellie (2).

Pam was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) in June 2022. TNBC is a less common type (10-15% of breast cancers), but can be more aggressive and difficult to treat. This cancer has fewer treatment options and also more likely to spread and recur.

She underwent a successful lumpectomy on her left breast on August 16th. Unfortunately, however, cancer was found in her lymph nodes, so her initial staging (Stage 1) was changed to Stage 2A. The surgeon also removed 21 lymph nodes from her underarm, and because of this her arm may take a while to fully heal and feel normal again.

She will go through dose-dense chemotherapy from October to January next year, followed by daily radiation for 5 weeks. These are the times Pam will feel most vulnerable and weak due to the side effects of the chemotherapy.

During this time, she won’t be able to work as much and help me in my translation business which provides for our family. We thank God that Japan's national health insurance system pays most of the medical cost. However, it does not cover everything. Pam’s hospital stay and food, for example, was out-of-pocket. Other major expenses are transportation and childcare.

We would be so grateful for any help that can ease financial stress through this time. We believe that God provides through our community.

Pam fully believes in God and so does her family, including our children, me, and her parents and siblings. Her faith in God gives her peace. However, sometimes she also feels anxious. Karis and Ellie are still so little, and Pam wants to be present for them and see them grow.

Thank you so much for thinking of us. Your prayers and your support are greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping Pam so that she can live a longer life that is cancer-free with her loved ones.

May God bless you for your love, care, and heart.

Blessings,

Tomo
