Campaign Story
Hi everyone,
I am Joy Jegede and I live in Sierra Leone. I recently received an unconditional offer to the Master of Public Administration program at London School of Economics and Political Science and this has been a major point of joy for me because I am passionate about effectively utilising policy to drive development. However, I cannot in any way afford the yearly tuition fee of 25,368 GBP and yearly living expenses of approximately 14,400 GBP for the two years and would love and deeply appreciate all the help I can get.
I entered College at 14 years old studying for a Bachelor of Business Administration with Amity University and graduating with a First Division. I simultaneously did a Bachelor of Law (Honours) degree with Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and graduated with a First Class when I was 18. I graduated among the top of my class in both programs and became the youngest known graduate in Fourah Bay College's 190 year history.
After graduation, I began and have been running a free remedial Math and English program for two disadvantaged junior secondary schools with friends from College. We are now working on preliminary research on access to and quality of education in the country's capital, Freetown. This has been my own way of contributing to development in Sierra Leone, how ever I can, utilising what I have- college education and lots of student contacts. Studying the MPA will enable me to contribute to policy and development more effectively in Sierra Leone and so thank you so much in advance for whatever support you can offer. The program starts on September 17 2018 but I would need to show proof of finance during my visa application three months earlier in July.
Sierra Leone has a lot of great natural spaces and I have taken hundreds of pictures of them in Freetown because of my love for nature. They are very good and I would be giving them out as rewards for every 150 GBP (1 picture), 350 GBP (2 pictures) and 2000 GBP (1 themed pictures of 10 + any 2), donation I receive.
Studying the MPA is not just a career dream for me, it is also a dream about the empowered and developed Africa I want to see someday. I will deeply appreciate whatever support I can get. Thank you so much and best regards.
