In February I travelled to The Gambia with a college trip to help and provide support to pupils at 3 nursery schools in incredibly poor areas. Whilst there I met a highly intelligent and well spoken young man named Ousainou who had just completed his school studies and passed with flying colours. He lives in a mud hut in the village of Makumbaya with no running water or electricty. Since May I have been paying £30 a month college fees for Ousainou to attend the GTMI college in the Gambia where he is studying a diploma in IT for 12 months.
I have collected a package of vital equipment for Ousainou including stationery and equipment, a school bag, shoes, two laptop computers and two digital cameras. He needs these items for his course. Most of this was kindly donated by staff at Winstanley College. To send the package recorded delivery will cost £285 so I have been training for 16 weeks to run the Great North Run to raise the money to send him the parcel...
Anything you can spare will really help..... Ousainou is a highly intellegent young man who is determined to fight his poverty by using his education..... You can help him achieve his dream!
I run in just under two weeks on Sunday Sept 15th - My number is 12285.
Thank You so much!
