I am seeking funding to continue my SCUBA experience to get my Advanced Open Water and Scientific Diving Certifications, as well as to be able to go on a trip to Mo'orea, Tahiti with a class at Glendale Community College (AZ).
I'm Jacob "GreenGo" Green, and I have a dream I'm working towards. I'd like to help make my favorite hobby more sustainable, the aquarium hobby, and am working towards my BS in Conservation Biology and Ecology at ASU. I am getting funding for college through Vocational Rehabilitation, and I have Asperger's Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism. I'd like to continue to attend college for my PhD after my Bachelor's, and this trip and these certifications would allow me to stand out against other graduate school applicants.
If I accomplish my goal of $5000, I'll use the funds in their entirety for this trip, but if I have any left over I'll use them to further my dream of being an Aquarium Population Ecologist with an emphasis in Sustainability and a preference for freshwater crabs and shrimps, as well as helping make the aquarium hobby more sustainable.
The following are the approximate costs of the trip and certifications:
-Instructor fee: $100
-Cost for book and certification card: $60
-Plane ticket to Mo'orea, Tahiti: $1650
-Class fee: $1531.60
-required SCUBA equipment: $1000
-DAN Membership and Insurance: $160 (Guardian plan)
TOTAL: approximately $4501.60, but I've set a goal for $5000 so I can have a bit of extra money in case it's needed.
Thank you for giving towards my trip and certifications, which in addition helps with my dream. I much appreciate it, and I hope you have great day!
