Campaign Story
Due to closure of so many retail spaces in Aberdeen, more and more people are struggling to find work, community spaces and an affordable cafe where coffee and a human face are available 24/7 for a chat, a safe and reassuring environment. The campaign is here to raise funds to buy a coffee making equipment and rent a pop up space and get people together and start a movement. We aim to then expand to locations across Scotland where communities need proactive activity and opportunities for employment and cultural exchange that does not involve advanced business skills, hipster trends or brands ruining small communities.
Why the Scipio Name - well apart from the flippant why not - we like the idea of blending coffee from Africa and will be hopefully using Italian made equipment! Scipio for the history buffs led to the name Africa!
Coffee like tea is a universal community builder. We want a business that's ethical and also sticks to Fairly Traded coffee and not at the expense of rare flora & fauna.
