Saving Twiggy

Meet Miss Twiggy,

Twiggy came into our local animal services with a completely prolapsed left eye. Once her face was shaved and prepped for surgery there were a few other punctures found that needed to be cleaned and stapled closed along with removing the ruptured eye. We believe this occurred in an altercation with another pup and sadly, maybe the owners just didn't have the funding or know how to help Miss Twiggy other then leaving her for someone to find.?

Due to her age (Approx 12) and the severe medical, Miss Twiggy was sent immediately into surgery and now is needing 24/7 monitoring for the following weeks to come for multiple ailments.

Once Miss Twiggy's eye and open wounds had been addressed, a small mass was found on her right front leg and was aspirated. We are devastated to find that it is cancerous. We hope with giving it a direct injection and following a strict week of daily medication and therapy we can get it to shrink tremendously so the following week we may be able to remove it when her staples are taken out as well.

This poor senior gal has been through enough. Now that she is resting comfortably, on pain meds and after-surgery therapy we are hopeful we will be able to remove her cancerous mass and give her a chance at a happy ever after for her golden years time to come.
